Manuela mándame una carta

One of the things first called my attention when I started to read the Manuela Zaenz Diaries was that despite the historic distance that separated us, both we agreed about the poor role assigned to women in a power position; her history seemed to indicate that 200 years later, the cultural patterns remained unchanged.

By other way, the fact that thousands of women rebelled to build a different social structure; extended an invisible bridge among generations and made us both sisters in an interrupted river of rebellion, tenderness and dogged persistence.

Manuela mándame una carta is an installation made up with origami modules that shows the dialog between an historic figure and a contemporary woman about the feminine stereotypes.
